Katie O’Brien Coon joined the National Mining Association (NMA) in June 2018 as the Manager of Trade Shows, Meetings and Membership, and is currently the Vice President, Meetings and Events. Her time at the NMA has included member engagement, the planning and execution of board meetings and committee meetings, and exhibit and sponsorship sales, and she is the show director for MINExpo INTERNATIONAL®, which is the association’s flagship event, held every four years in Las Vegas.
Katie grew up in Salt Lake City, Utah, where her father and both grandfathers worked in the mining industry. She has been in the Washington, D.C., area since 2006. She earned her undergraduate degree from Utah State University in 2006 and a masters degree from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas in 2012. When she is not working, she is buying sneakers, traveling with her family and friends, or enjoying a nice bourbon.
